How Do Solar Evacuated Tubes Pool Heater Panels Work?

Solar evacuated tubes pool heating systems deliver enormous benefits for heating a pool. Generally, vacuum tubes work in cloudy and indirect light conditions effectively. This means, you expect getting useable heat energy for your pool from sunrise to sunset and even in cloudy weather.

Generally, vacuum tubes come with a life expectancy of over 25 years. Hence, you don’t need to get stressed about fixing leaks and replacing mats once in every three to five years. However, vacuum tubes work efficiently in minus 40 degree temperature.

When the ambient temperature is colder than the pool water, your solar water heater gets working. In fact, other pool heating systems only provide heat energy when the outside air temperature is more than the temperature of the pool. With an evacuated tube solar pool heater, you can extend your pool season by two to three months.

How Do Solar Evacuated Tubes Pool Heating Systems Work?

Northern Lights solar pool heaters use a closed loop system for their operation unlike other pool heaters available on the market as they use an open loop system. The pool pump helps in pushing the pool water up against the gravity that causes excess wear on the pump and results in increasing pump operational cost by up to 30%.

The solar pool heating systems provided by Northern Lights Solar Solutions come with a heat exchanger that separates the heating fluid and pool water. A small amount of water or glycol in freezing climates is circulated through the solar evacuated tubes at a rate of .75-1.25 GPM. The advanced evacuated tube helps the systems to absorb solar energy and transfer the energy to the pool through a heat exchanger.

The hi-flow pool heat exchanger puts very resistance on the pump, allowing it to operate at its normal capacity. Rest assured that, your solar pool heating system never comes in contact with the chlorinated pool water ensuring longer life and increasing your investment up to five times than that of an ordinary pool heater.

Northern Lights advanced solar pool heaters are highly efficient that they can start delivering heat energy to pool as soon as the sun rises in the morning. They don’t require direct sunlight; even if there’s light rain, your solar pool heater will be able to deliver heat energy to the pool. With the digital controller, the pool heater provides maximum solar output and safety features like freeze protection, holiday cooling mode and advanced energy monitoring to know your daily savings.

In addition, this system can transmit data to the internet by providing you with real time performance and historical data analysis on your smart phone or personal computer through the Free Resol VBus.net. These pool heating systems come with much longer life expectancy and provide enough energy throughout the season. The overall ownership cost is substantially less that yields optimal savings over fossil fuels and electricity as well as traditional solar pool heaters.

The temperature of pool exceeds the chosen desired temperature.

The Features –

Automatic Cooling –

If the solar collectors are cooler than pool water by 8 degrees F or more and the pool is above the preferred temperature, the valve starts rotating that allows cooling through the solar collectors. The heat dissipation goes on until the collectors go above to 3 degrees F of the pool temperature or the pool temperature is below the preferred temperature.

Single Setting for Preferred Temperature –

By the help of a single dial adjustment, Aqua Solar can be set as per the desired pool temperature which is clearly indicated. The dial is calibrated with the temperature that ranges from 70 degree F to 104 degrees F ensuring fast, easy and user-friendly operation.

The set temperature indicates the preferred pool temperature. The Aqua Solar will determine whether the water should be heated or cooled, enhancing the solar system abilities.

Terminal Strip Connections –

The connections are there for input power and sensor inputs. They have industry-standard 3 pin connectors for the operation of both forward and reverse valve actuator.

LED Display –

There’s a LED display that shows the status of the entire system operation. Aqua Solar comes with optional valve output that allows for secondary zone of either a pump or a three way valve.

Solar Water Heating System For Your Home

To cut down your annual energy bills & carbon footprint installing a solar water heating system for your home is the best thing you can do. And now Government offering incentives to people that are installing renewable technology in their home, there couldn’t be a better time to getting one fitted in your home as well.

However, there are quite a few things you need to ask yourself before installing a solar water heating system for your home. Let’s find out what are they:

Is your home suitable for installing a solar water heating system?

A typical heating system needs a panel to be fixed to your roof to gather heat from the sun. To maximize the effect you require a 3-4m² area on a South-facing roof that gets direct sunlight for the most part of the day. A South-West and South-East facing roof can also be considered but won’t work as effectively.

Flat plate or evacuated tube systems?

Well, solar evacuated tubes are known to be more competent in covering sun rays into heat compared to flat plate panels. However, issues may arise during set up if they’ve not been correctly sized.

Nevertheless, flat plate solar panels are an affordable substitute to evacuated tubes & are more suited for residential hot water use.

Or you can use flat plate panels and solar evacuated tubes collectively. The flat plate warms the water first, then the evacuated tube further amplify the temperature prior to sending it to the storage container.

Do you require planning approval for installing a solar water heating unit?

In the United Kingdom, changes to authorized development consent for renewable technologies have made it really simpler to set up solar panels on residential properties without the need for planning approval.

However, the special case does apply for conservation areas, listing buildings and areas of exceptional natural splendor.

Regardless of where you’re, if you’re thinking about installing solar heating it’s recommended to check with your local authority if planning approval is needed before the installation process.

Is your existing boiler compatible with solar water heating?

The good thing is that most traditional boiler systems & hot water cylinder systems are compatible with solar heating. However, if you have a combination boiler that runs without a tank then it’s expected that it won’t be compatible. If you’re not sure it’s wise to consult a competent installer who can guide on compatibility with your existing system.
